POSITION SUMMARY:
The Organic Chemist is responsible for the management, development, writing and implementation of new organic analytical methods, supporting technicians with instrumental troubleshooting and the purchase of new equipment.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and validate analytical methods in organic chemistry;
Write methods and other documents used in the laboratory;
Improve and optimize laboratory analytical methods;
Train technicians on new technologies;
Support technicians during instrumental troubleshooting;
Encourage and train employees on safe practices;
Participate in laboratory redevelopment projects and to accommodate new needs and services;
Perform Internal Audits to Support ISO Signing authority for the approval of analytical sequences including quality assurance and laboratory results and to evaluate non-conformities of these elements (if required);
Signing authority to approve and sign Analytical Chemistry Scope of Accreditation Testing Certificates to assess non-conformances of these elements Recommend to management the service contracts to be renewed;
Negotiate prices for laboratory consumables;
Review and approve suppliers of products and services;
Lead or participate in investigations to understand root causes and corrective actions during events or non-conformances related to the quality of results Act as a contact person when required for external instrumentation specialists;
Use and maintain systems in place in relation to ISO management systems In addition, upon request, perform any other related duties that may be part of this job.
Functional English;
Knowledge of environmental legislation is an asset;
Ability to work in a team;
Critical thinking, great autonomy, good communicator;
Experience in computer systems programming is an asset.
Undergraduate degree (Honours) in Chemistry;
Member of the Ordre des Chimistes du Québec;
Two (2) to three (3) years of work experience in a laboratory, with experience in method development and equipment maintenance. Lifting loads of less than 10 kg.
