Graduate Assistant

Under supervision of Professor Charles Cai, Program Head of the Chinese Translation and Interpretation Program, the Graduate Assistant provides administrative support for the Chinese T&I Program. This is a non-exempt, temporary part-time staff position.

This is a student level A position with a hiring range of $16.95 per hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Handles all program inquiries
• Represents the Chinese T&I Program in campus-wide activities and assists with the organization of events hosted/co-hosted by the Chinese T&I Program
• Creates, edits, and posts content on Chinese social media channels under the guidance of faculty reviewers and relevant MIIS departments, working with them to manage historical postings and the pipeline for new content
• Handles general correspondence with clients, students, businesses, institutions etc.
• Assists with Program set-up
• Greets public and handles phone, in-person, mail, fax, e-mail, and social media inquiries from public, staff, faculty, students, and maintains communications log
• Processes initial inquiries by responding to social media messages and maintains communications log
• Assists in the daily preparation and updating of correspondence, general information for students as well as program records using word processing software, photocopier, fax machine and e-mail software
• Maintains general office and database files
• Maintains office equipment to working standards
• Supports program hospitality events

Performs other related duties as requested by Program.
