PURPOSE:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Recreation, the Coordinator of Recreational Sports administers the recreational sports programs and manages the daily operations of the Intramural Sports and Sports Club programs. The Coordinator will assist the Director with the fiscal management, facility management, organizational development and the day‑to‑day operations of the recreational sports programs. The coordinator will have oversight of the university’s Intramural Sports and Sports Club programs including risk management, policy and procedure development, scheduling and event planning, personnel supervision and training, marketing and promotions, programming, strategic planning, and program assessment.
The incumbent plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates programs and services that promote the educational and social development of students outside the classroom.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversee all aspects of the Sports Club program. Develop, design, and implement a comprehensive training program, leadership development, and advise all sport clubs. Provides effective advising, assistance and guidance to the Sports Club Council and student organizations. Update and maintain a current sports club handbook and provide training on topics such as safety, travel, fundraising, insurance and waivers, use of university name and trademarks/logos, budgeting, officer development, hosting competitions, space allocation and reservations, and other topics related to sport club programs.
