Network Engineer V (On Site Extreme Engineer)
Salary Range: $128,000 to $143,000
Ops Tech Alliance (OTA) is seeking a Network Engineer V (Onsite Engineer, Extreme Certified) to support the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) at the Presidio of Monterey, CA. This senior‑level Onsite Engineer brings deep expertise in Extreme Networks and broader enterprise networking to lead complex network initiatives across the DLIFLC enterprise.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities- Engineer, deploy, and maintain Extreme Networks switches, routers, access points, and management tools.
- Lead complex network projects including upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure expansions across LAN, WAN, and wireless.
- Configure and troubleshoot routing, switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex network issues; identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Plan and document network architecture changes; produce diagrams and runbooks.
- Mentor junior network engineers.
- BA/BS from an accredited college or university with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR AA/AS with 7+ years, OR 9+ years of relevant network infrastructure experience in lieu of degree, with focus on Extreme Networks.
- 10+ years of relevant network infrastructure experience.
- Active IAT Level II certification (one of: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP) plus applicable CE/OS certification.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent.
- Active Extreme Networks certification.
- Hands‑on experience with VMware NSX (Install, Configure, Manage v6.2);
Ruckus L2 switches/wireless controllers/APs;
Palo Alto Networks firewalls (PA‑7050/3060/3260/5450, Wild Fire, URL Filtering);
Brocade MPLS L2/L3 switches;
Cisco switches/routers;
Aruba wireless (controllers, APs, Air Wave, Clear Pass);
Ciena 100G OME 6500 DWDM;
Extreme Networks L2/L3, MLXE, Extreme
IQ, OSPF/BGP/MPLS;
Solar Winds, InMon Sentinel, Uptrends. - U.S. Citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent advanced networking certification.
- Palo Alto Networks PCNSE.
- Prior DoD or Army enterprise network experience.
- Active Secret clearance (a plus, not required).
