Senior System Engineer

Overview

Position contingent upon the award of a contract currently under bid.

The Senior System Engineer leads the datacenter’s engineering/admin team, overseeing configuration and support for domain systems, storage servers, SAN, NAS, backup systems, Exchange, LMS, identity management, and security. Responsibilities include staging, managing, developing, sustaining, and deploying systems in a hybrid cloud/datacenter environment.

• Plan, design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot servers and applications during or after work hours, including performance monitoring of all servers and applications.
• Engineer the organization’s system infrastructure, including hardware and software components.
• Support the IT Supply Technician as assigned.

• Deep technical knowledge in operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking protocols, storage technologies, cloud computing platforms, and security best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience diagnosing complex issues and developing effective solutions.
• Experience with high‑availability hybrid datacenters.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• BA/BS from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5+ years of experience, or an AA/AS with 7+ years of experience, or 9+ years of experience as a system administrator.
• Training, certifications, experience, and clearance requirements:
  • IAT Level II (e.g., CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP) certification and applicable CE/OS certification.
• Experience with Microsoft O365, VMware vSphere & NSX‑T, Linux Red Hat, Windows Server, SQL, MySQL, EMC SAN technologies, Active Directory, AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience in standard operations and security concepts, practices, and procedures within a datacenter.
• Ability to plan and achieve goals using sound judgment.
• Experience leading an engineering and administrative team.
