About the RoleThe Senior Event Manager independently manages all client communication post‑booking through event execution, providing thoughtful guidance, creative ideas, and detailed planning. In addition to executing events at a high level, this role carries added responsibility for mentoring team members, supporting operational consistency, and acting as backup leadership during peak periods.
This position reports to the Director of Event Operations and plays a key role in maintaining strong standards across venues and events.
Responsibilities- Manage assigned events from post‑booking through event completion, owning planning, communication, and on‑site execution
- Serve as Day‑of Coordinator at weddings, providing confident leadership and exceptional client service
- Lead and support service staff from set‑up through breakdown, acting as the primary on‑site decision‑maker
- Work closely with an assigned Event Production Assistant, delegating tasks, mentoring their development, and ensuring strong event execution
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and consistently represent Events by Classic Group standards
- Guide clients through the planning process with clear communication and thoughtful recommendations
- Prepare accurate estimates, invoices, and event documentation in collaboration with the finance team
- Participate in group tastings and conduct private tastings when needed.
- Conduct post‑event follow‑up to gather client feedback and encourage positive reviews
- Implement décor, layout, and service enhancements that elevate events and support revenue goals
- Support the development of Event Managers by modeling best practices in planning, communication, and execution
- Assist with onboarding and training of new event team members through shadowing and feedback
- Step in as Event Manager backup during vacations, sick days, and peak periods to ensure continuity
- Provide leadership support during complex events, high‑volume weekends, off‑premise events and special event weeks
- Communicate event details proactively with culinary, service, and operations teams
- Refine and help develop SOPs, planning tools, timelines, templates, and internal processes used by the event team
- Participate in weekly meetings, offering guidance, practical solutions, and strategic input
- Remain flexible and solution‑oriented in support of team and company goals
- Three or more years of experience as catering/event manager, ideally with weddings
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines without losing attention to detail
- Experience managing service teams to include food service/execution
- Be able to lift chairs, move tables and participate in the set‑up/tear‑down of events
- Able to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced environment exuding grace under pressure
- Experience with event software such as Caterease and Prismm in addition to Microsoft products: word, excel, power point, and Canva
