Position OverviewThis advertisement is for a Psychologist, CF position(s) located at Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP) in Soledad, Monterey County. Please indicate the position number on your application: 936‑220‑9283‑XXX.
This part‑time position will involve 16 hours per week. The monthly part‑time salary range is $4,598.40 to $5,574.80.

Recruitment & RetentionRecruitment and Retention Bonus available for clinicians newly hired with California Correctional Health Care Services. Individuals may be eligible to receive a $10,000 one‑time recruitment and retention stipend, and a monthly differential during their first year (totaling $20,000), provided eligibility criteria are met.
Employees may be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus if selected for hire and remain employed for 90 days.
Responsibilities- Preadmission screenings.
- Psychologist evaluation of inmates admitted to the program.
- Crisis intervention.
- Individual therapy, treatment, and discharge planning.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team evaluations.
- Consult with the psychiatrist, nursing and other staff.
- Assist in staff meetings, institutional committees, and consults with custody staff.
- Supervision and training of students, interns, unlicensed psychologists and other staff.
- Participate in program evaluation and research, and consult on research design and analysis of data.
License:
Possession of a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology and possession of an earned Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an institution meeting the criteria of Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California's Business and Professions Code.
Individuals in the process of securing this license may be appointed with a waiver, provided they secure a valid license within three years of appointment. Waivers may be granted for part‑time employees proportionally, up to five years. Unlicensed recruits from outside California who qualify for licensure may be appointed for up to two years, during which licensure must be obtained. Applicants within six months of receiving their degree may be admitted for exam but not appointed until receipt of degree and completion of internship.
