SummaryBridge Defense seeks an experienced HPC Linux System Administrator to support Satellite Data Management at the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC) in Monterey, California. The role involves managing high‑volume satellite data processing, integrating new data flows in various formats, and ensuring HPC, storage, and backup systems meet operational, security, and performance requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- System Integration & Support: Provide end‑to‑end integration for HPC, satellite, and related government systems; troubleshoot interconnecting networks and data flow performance.
- Architecture Guidance: Advise HPC Linux customers on system, code, and performance issues; participate in escalation and problem resolution.
- Network‑Attached Storage Support: Administer Net App NAS for NIPR/SIPR environments; resolve file‑system performance issues and perform routine hardware support.
- Backup Support: Maintain daily NIPR/SIPR backup policies using IBM Spectrum Protect (Tivoli); verify backups, manage media rotation, and administer firmware/software updates.
- DISA STIG Compliance: Ensure all work conforms to Defense Information Systems Agency application and system security technical implementation guides.
- HPC Engineering Support: Provide engineering assistance for NIPR/SIPR HPC infrastructure, including operational testing, validation, and documentation for transition to FNMOC IT.
- Technical Input to Production Meetings: Participate in production‑related technical meetings, contribute schedules, documents, and engineering tasks, and facilitate system upgrade efforts.
- Active TOP SECRET clearance.
- DoD 8570 IAT/IAM II (e.g., Security+) certification.
- Extensive Linux systems administration experience in operational environments, including storage and backup solutions.
- Proficiency in provisioning Linux systems, performing operational testing, and securing systems with STIGs and vulnerability scanners.
- Familiarity with project‑management processes and documentation.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation for diverse audiences.
- Strong risk‑management, communication, teamwork, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Analytical, self‑directed, and adaptive with a passion for continuous improvement.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem‑solving abilities.
- Capability to write and present runbooks, designs, and technical engineering briefings.
- Comfortable working across compute and storage domains in an operational capacity.
- Work may involve compressed schedules and overtime; travel may be required.
- Relocation not available.
- Workspace requirements include long periods of sitting or standing and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must manage competing priorities effectively, often with limited notice.

Pay Range$130,000 – $155,000 per year (Monterey, CA)
