Job Title: Security Control Assessor (SCA)

Location(s): Monterey, CA

Hours: Regular Full-Time

Salary Range: $65k/yr - $78k/yr

Clearance Requirements

This position requires a current and active Secret Clearance at the time of application.

The Security Control Assessor is responsible for conducting independent, comprehensive assessments of the management, operational, and technical security controls and control enhancements within or inherited by an information technology (IT) system. The primary objective is to determine the overall effectiveness of these controls, as defined in NIST 800-37.

Experience:

• Perform thorough evaluations to ensure compliance with NIST 800-37 and related standards.
• Identify and recommend improvements: assess control effectiveness, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend enhancements.
• Provide detailed reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Work with IT and security teams to implement recommended measures.
• Keep up to date with security trends, threats, and best practices.
• ACAS, Microsoft Defender, STIGs, Microsoft 365, SaaS Security, RHEL, Windows Server, macOS, and eMASS.

Education:

• Educational requirements include AA/AS from an accredited college or university or substitute with 3+ years experience.

Certifications:

• Require any of the following IAT Level II (CySA+, Security+, CND, or SSCP) Certification and CE/OS Certification.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. The ability to move files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary would be required.
