Visiting Instructor of Musical Theatre Voice
The University of Montevallo Department of Theatre and Music seeks a one-year Visiting Instructor of Musical Theatre Voice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in musical theatre repertoire, experience teaching applied voice lessons, and significant experience selecting appropriate audition material for BFA Musical Theatre students. The appointment begins August 2026 and the position opens until filled.
Responsibilities- Teach applied voice lessons to BFA Musical Theatre students and other departmental students if slots are available.
- Participate in recruiting efforts for the department.
- Serve as Vocal Coach for departmental productions where needed.
- Assign musical theatre repertoire to BFA students.
- Help coordinate and participate in Falcon for a Day and Preview Day events.
- Master’s degree in Theatre, Music, or related discipline.
- Evidence of success teaching applied voice lessons.
- 3+ years teaching applied voice.
- Previous university-level teaching experience.
- Terminal degree in Theatre, Music, or related discipline.
Position:
Visiting Instructor of Musical Theatre Voice (one-year). Full-time 9‑month regular. FLSA exempt.
