General DescriptionAssistant Professor of Voice, tenure-track appointment beginning August 2026.
Responsibilities- Teach applied voice in musical theatre and classical styles
- Teach other classes as needed in the department
- Coaching students in lessons as needed on music in productions
- Offer students guidance on maintaining vocal health regimens during rehearsals and performance runs
- Actively recruit for the department and participate in retention and outreach activities
- Participate in departmental, college, and/or university service
- Engage with research and/or creative activity appropriate for a tenure-track position
- Participate in other duties as assigned
- Terminal degree in music or theatre
- Applicants near the end of their terminal degree are encouraged, with proof of degree completion required prior to beginning work
- Evidence of successful collegiate-level teaching

Additional InformationThe University of Montevallo Department of Performing Arts seeks an Assistant Professor of Voice. The ideal candidate will have a background in both musical theatre and classical styles, able to provide support to both the theatre and music programs within the department. Responsibilities include teaching applied voice lessons to musical theatre and vocal music majors; teaching studio and voice classes; participating in departmental service responsibilities as required;
and recruiting students into the Department of Performing Arts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in music or theatre
- Applicants near the end of their terminal degree are encouraged, with proof of degree completion required prior to beginning work
- Evidence of successful collegiate-level teaching
- Record of scholarly and/or creative work consistent with an assistant professor on the tenure track
- Evidence of three or more years of successful collegiate-level teaching
