Area Superintendent – Mission Critical / Data Center Construction
The Area Superintendent oversees a defined portion of a large, complex commercial construction project, often in a mission critical or data center environment. This role combines hands-on building with detailed planning, ensuring that field activities in the assigned area are safe, well-coordinated, on schedule, and delivered to a high standard of quality. You will lead crews and trade partners, manage day-to-day field execution, and drive production while collaborating closely with field and project engineers.

Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day field execution for an assigned area of a large, complex commercial construction project, often a mission critical or data center build.
- Plan the work in detail, clearly communicate the plan to crews and trade partners, and execute the plan to meet safety, schedule, quality, and production goals.
- Own safety performance in your area by promoting a safety-first mindset, enforcing safety standards, and modeling safe behaviors at all times.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and trade partners to ensure work is properly sequenced, staffed, and aligned with project priorities.
- Manage and track the construction schedule for your area, using Critical Path Method (CPM) principles to monitor progress, identify risks, and drive recovery plans when needed.
- Utilize scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 (or equivalent) to build, update, and maintain activity sequences, logic ties, and critical path analyses.
- Oversee quality control for your area, including review of shop drawings and blueprints, verification of field installation, and prompt resolution of issues.
- Collaborate with field and project engineers to support layout, coordination, and technical problem-solving in the field.
- Use digital workflows and construction technology tools, including PDF markup software, spreadsheets, and common construction platforms, to manage information and communicate effectively.
- Create, review, and implement task-level safety plans such as Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA), Safety Task Analyses (STA), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), or equivalent.
- Maintain strong communication with project leadership, trade partners, and clients, providing clear updates on safety, schedule, and production in your area.
- Mentor and coach newer team members, fostering their development as field leaders and reinforcing a high-performance, collaborative site culture.
- Respond professionally to client and stakeholder requests, including challenging or unexpected issues, while protecting project priorities.
- Support and uphold structured site processes and high standards for coordination, documentation, and execution.
- Quickly assume ownership of your assigned area after onboarding, driving continuous improvement in safety, productivity, and quality.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
- 5–6+ years of experience on large commercial construction projects; mission critical or data center project experience is a strong plus.
- Proven field leadership experience overseeing crews and subcontractors on complex commercial projects.
- Demonstrated ability to plan work, communicate plans clearly, and drive execution in a fast-paced field environment.
- Strong understanding of construction management principles, including scheduling, safety, quality, and production tracking.
- Experience managing commercial construction schedules using Critical Path Method (CPM) concepts.
- Hands-on experience with project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or an equivalent platform.
- Ability to build and maintain schedules in software, including adding and deleting activities, creating and adjusting logic ties, analyzing critical path, and developing recovery plans.
