Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing and overseeing safety programs for data center projects, including live environments and new construction sites. This role supports occupational safety, regulatory compliance, and risk reduction within telecom and low voltage construction environments. The Safety Coordinator conducts site inspections, leads safety orientations and meetings, investigates incidents, coordinates with general contractors, and ensures company safety policies and procedures are followed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct onsite safety orientations, safety meetings, toolbox talks, and field-level safety training.
  • Inspect job sites, facilities, tools, and equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Identify conditions that could result in accidents, injuries, or financial losses.
  • Evaluate potential risks, injuries, and losses resulting from workplace hazards or incidents.
  • Develop and support accident‑prevention and loss‑control programs for incorporation into operational procedures.
  • Coordinate safety activities to ensure consistent implementation of safety practices across assigned projects.
  • Investigate work‑related accidents, injuries, and occupational incidents to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret safety data related to exposure factors, injuries, illnesses, accidents, and compliance standards.
  • Prepare and review safety reports, inspection findings, and incident investigation documentation.
  • Review plans and specifications to determine whether safety requirements have been met.
  • Evaluate corrective actions taken to address safety and health inspection violations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of safety policies, regulations, and construction safety practices.
  • Collaborate with operations teams, supervisors, foremen, and general contractors to resolve safety concerns and promote a safe work environment.
  • Recommend process and worksite safety improvements to reduce employee exposure to hazards.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a construction safety position required.
  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification required.
  • Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) certification or a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Management, or a related field required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices, preferably in data center, telecom, or low voltage environments.
  • Ability to interpret safety regulations, inspection findings, and incident data.
  • Strong communication, training, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with potential overtime.
  • Ability to start work at 7:00 a.m.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the job site for the duration of the shift.
  • Current or in‑progress professional safety certifications preferred, including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Management, or a related field required if a BCSP certification is not held.
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of construction safety experience in commercial, industrial, telecommunications, low voltage, or data center environments.
