Dyslexia Therapist

Potential Part-Time, 10-month position

Greengate School at Randolph is seeking applications for a potential part-time Orton Gillingham dyslexia specialist position. Dyslexia specialists provide reading remediation to students in lower and middle school. This practitioner would be responsible for working 1:1, in duos and/or in small groups with students in grades 1-6 using the Orton Gillingham approach.

Who we are:

Greengate School at Randolph serves students in grades 1-6 using an Orton-Gillingham approach to provide a specialized program of instruction that meets individual learning needs, while also offering students with dyslexia a full complement of co-curricular and extra-curricular school experiences. Greengate, one of 17 schools in the nation accredited by the Orton-Gillingham Academy and the only such school in Alabama, has educated children with dyslexia and related language-learning differences since 2002.

The 17-acre Drake campus houses pre-kindergarten through grade eight, while the Upper School is located at the 76-acre Garth campus. Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct lessons well-grounded in the principles of the Orton-Gillingham methodology
• Work with students in 1:1, in duos and/or small group settings
• Assess student progress and use data to inform instruction
• Make diagnostic and prescriptive decisions to expedite student progress
• Work with the OGA Fellow and Clinical Supervisor for goal setting, and curricular planning and implementation
• Submit a minimum of 5 observations each year, and implement feedback provided by the OGA Fellow

The dyslexia therapist will participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of all students in the school community in a manner that supports and promotes the mission of Randolph School.

Qualifications:

• B.A. or B.S. degree
• Completion of the Orton
  - Gillingham Classroom Educator and Associate level training (70 hrs total), with the endorsement from the OGA Fellow.
