Position Summary:
The Nursing Clinical Adjunct is responsible for preparing and teaching clinical and/or laboratory nursing courses and ensuring the effectiveness of clinical experiences. The role works closely with the Lead Clinical Faculty, Clinical Coordinator, and Program Director.
This position is in‑person; not remote.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS- Supervises students in clinical practice, internships, observations, field experiences, nursing labs, and other course‑and‑graduation requirements.
- Counsels or refers students with identified clinical performance problems.
- Maintains the highest moral and ethical standards as an educator, nursing professional, and responsible community member.
- Debriefs and evaluates students in clinical practice, observations, and field experiences.
- Teaches the number of hours and courses specified in the employment contract for the required time periods.
- Meets all clinicals and other scheduled responsibilities such as office hours and meetings at the designated times.
- Articulates course learning outcomes or objectives to ensure student understanding of course expectations.
- Assists the Lead Clinical Faculty with the creation of the course/clinical syllabus.
- Creates course materials that deliver information in an understandable and engaging manner to facilitate student achievement of learning outcomes.
- Adheres to scheduled office hours and is available to assist students in understanding course content, clinical scenarios, and to facilitate mastery of material through one‑to‑one meetings or small group sessions.
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Two years’ experience in the clinical specialty area.
- Experience in Obstetrics required.
- Membership in a professional association related to the area of instruction preferred.
- Current knowledge in the area of clinical practice.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations.
- Demonstrated time‑management and detail‑oriented skills.
- Computer‑based skills, including software, analytical, and report‑writing abilities.
- Demonstrated clinical competency and adherence to professional standards of practice.
The work environment includes regular professional communication in person, phone, email, and other electronic means, movement within the office or school, handling of media and equipment, and visual or otherwise assessment of clinical scenarios. In the clinical facility, the role may involve walking, standing, and operating complex equipment. Exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, and other potentially unsafe conditions may occur. Occasionally, lifting up to 50 pounds may be required unless otherwise specified.
