job description: district behavior interventionist - student social services
qualifications:
- current alabama teacher's certification, bachelor's degree or higher in agency counseling or a related field
- experience in counseling and assessment of behavior
- at least three (3) successful years of teaching or service in a related counseling field
essential duties:
- assist with the assessment of behavior needs of identified students
- identify the appropriate conflict and problem-solving skills
- design and follow-up with student behavior contracts
- conference with parents related to behavioral and academic concerns
- provide technical assistance to teachers on behavioral alternatives and interventions, including conducting workshops
- evaluate program effectiveness
- utilize therapeutic counseling strategies with individuals and families
- provide direct counseling to individual students and their families
- monitor specialized alternative program components focused on critical behavior issues
- develop functional behavior assessments
- establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors
- work district-wide in assigned school(s) – must provide own transportation
