Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Biology
The Department of Biology and Environmental Sciences at Auburn University at Montgomery is seeking to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biology. This position will enhance existing research strengths in molecular biology, cancer biology, microbiology or physiology, and will support a dynamic department and a growing MS program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Preference will be given to candidates pursuing research topics that emphasize training in fields related to biomedicine or biotechnology, with particular interest in candidates working in areas related to cancer, immunology and metabolomics.
Review of applications will begin immediately. The targeted start date will be Spring semester or Fall semester 2027, depending upon availability. Appointments at the Associate or Professor rank will also be considered.

QualificationsApplicants must have a Ph.D. (postdoctoral experience preferred) and will be expected to develop a funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students. Appointments at the Associate or Professor rank would require demonstrated funding success. The successful applicant will participate in undergraduate and graduate instruction and demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring first-generation students. Teaching experience is required, and candidates who employ innovative, evidence-based, and inclusive pedagogical practices are preferred.

Auburn University at Montgomery is a comprehensive, public institution located in Alabama's capital city. The Montgomery metropolitan area is a home to nearly 400,000 people, and a hub to technology-intensive entities such as Maxwell AFB and Hyundai Motor Manufacturing. AUM enrolls approximately 5,000 students, and the University is investing heavily in STEM education, including our new building that houses Biology and Chemistry teaching and research endeavors.
The Department of Biology and Environmental Science includes 13 tenure-track and two non-tenure-track faculty and offers undergraduate degrees in Biology and Environmental Science that encompass a number of focus areas, minors and certificate programs. Many Biology faculty also participate in the interdisciplinary MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program mentioned above. Successful applicants must possess excellent written and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse audiences.
