Assistant Professor of Social Work
The Department of Social Work and Anthropology at Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Social Work to begin August 2027. We are expanding our BSW Program to include an online option, therefore, candidates must be willing to teach both online and in-person courses. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in scholarship and research as evidenced by a strong record of peer-reviewed publications, strengths in undergraduate teaching, and a commitment to service.
They must also have a demonstrated commitment to social justice, social work education, and promoting student-faculty research. Duties include teaching core and elective undergraduate Social Work courses, maintaining a productive research agenda that includes publishing and presenting in professional venues, professional advising for online and on-campus students, recruitment and retention efforts, assisting with maintaining the program's accreditation, and adding to the service mission of the university.
A DSW or PhD in Social Work and an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program with at least two years of post-MSW practice is required. However, candidates with an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program with two years of full-time post-MSW experience and a PhD in a related field may be considered. Other qualifications include:
- Ability to develop and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with faculty and administration across the university
- A record of professional activities related to social work practice and education
- Online teaching experience preferred
