Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Operations Manager
Summary
Hyundai MOBIS is seeking a qualified ESG Strategy & Sustainability Assistant Manager to lead key initiatives in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. This role is critical in advancing our carbon neutrality roadmap, managing ESG disclosures, and integrating sustainable practices across operations and supply chains. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, with experience in ESG reporting, carbon management, and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities include developing ESG strategies, conducting GHG emissions analysis, supporting RE100 implementation, and ensuring compliance with global sustainability standards. This candidate will also perform general EHS duties, including participating in EHS audits and incident investigations, as well as other administrative activities. MOBIS North America Electrified Powertrain, LLC (MNAe) is a Tier 1 supplier of Battery System Assembly (BSA) and Power Electronics (PE) systems-essential components for electric vehicle production. MNAe utilizes state-of-the-art manufacturing technology for battery system assembly.
Essential FunctionsTo perform successfully in this position, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additional duties may be assigned.
ESG Strategy & Carbon Neutrality- Develop and implement mid-to-long-term ESG strategies aligned with corporate sustainability goals.
- Integrate Environmental (E), Social (S), and Governance (G) principles into company-wide operations.
- Lead carbon neutrality initiatives:
- Establish and manage the carbon neutrality roadmap.
- Promote implementation of RE100.
- Calculate and analyze GHG emissions (domestic and international).
- Respond to Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and environmental regulations.
- Publish external reports related to carbon neutrality.
- Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for products.
- Respond to ESG disclosures and evaluations, with a focus on environmental criteria.
- Prepare ESG reports and disclosures in accordance with global standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, CSRD).
- Develop and manage ESG performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure compliance with ESG-related regulations and frameworks.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (executives, departments, HQ Korea) and external stakeholders (KIA Motors, Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Motor Group, ESG rating agencies, NGOs).
- Represent the company in ESG-related forums, working groups, and conferences.
- Identify and mitigate ESG-related risks.
- Support the development of ESG governance structures and policies.
- Report on ESG priorities and regulatory updates to executive leadership and the board.
- Promote sustainable practices across operations, supply chains, and investments.
- Support carbon reduction, circular economy, and social impact initiatives.
- Collaborate with procurement and finance teams to integrate ESG into decision-making.
- Safety audits.
- Assist in regulatory compliance activities.
- EHS documentation and reporting.
- Perform other EHS duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a related field (including expected graduates).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or environmental management.
- Experience in ESG reporting and disclosure (e.g., RE100, GRI, SASB, TCFD).
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with ESG rating agencies (e.g., RE100, Conflict Minerals, DJSI, MSCI, Eco Vadis).
- Experience in carbon accounting, materiality assessments, and ESG risk analysis.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., Conflict Minerals, RoHS).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of heavy/automotive industrial equipment.
- Master's degree in engineering, environmental engineering, or related field.
- Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Certifications such as:
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
- Registered Environmental Manager (REM)
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification
70% office, 30% production floor; ability to travel around the production floor. If an emergency occurs, you may need to stay until the issue is resolved.
