The Role

The Planning Engineer II applies approved technologies and architectures to specific requirements for additions to support growth and new services  Planning Engineer will work with a wide variety of projects involving ISP and OSP facilities, including cables, conduits, huts, etc. They will collaborate with engineers, construction supervisors, vendor partners, and project managers. They are responsible for effectively monitoring and managing aspects of deployment, including resolving issues, and accurately reporting on progress of their assignments.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develops/defines plans for the implementation of new plant construction or modifications to existing facilities.
  • Prepares plans and specifications, including gathering field data.
  • Assures that the most feasible, practical and economical means to complete the work are utilized. Provides cost data to support capital planning and budgeting.
  • Monitors and controls project expenditures.
  • Skilled in planning and engineering.
  • Analyzes local and long haul network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, and selecting proper materials.
  • Direct Support of logistics and materials management.
  • Supports acquisition and implementation of network specific materials.
  • Requires minimal direction and guidance once up to speed.
  • Oversees the installation/construction and testing of plant facilities.
What We Look For in a Candidate

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent education and relevant experience.
  • 4+ years of industry experience and knowledge in the aspects of Engineering and OSP Fiber planning.
  • Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize with good time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Detail oriented with an intense focus on quality.
  • Proven track record as adept and effective project manager.
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project.
  • Positive and professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor.
  • Ability to travel as needed, with notice.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in related field and 2+ years of related experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices and procedures, including conduit placement, fiber pulling, site development for remote equipment.
  • Previous experience with supervision of projects, or project management, reading blueprints and schematics, and experience and knowledge of building codes and relevant laws to ensure the project is in compliance with building standards and regulations.
Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

  • $66,375 - $88,500 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, , IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
  • $69,694 - $92,925 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
  • $73,013 - $97,350 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
