Summary
Meta is seeking a data center Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our Data Center Facility Operations team. Our data centers serve as the foundation upon which our systems operate to meet the demands of our customers. The Electrical SME will be part of the facility's operations team and will be responsible for serving as the electrical system's technical operations expert.
This role requires a broad understanding of electrical systems and equipment function, with responsibility spanning procedure-based electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, training, and project oversight. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in low voltage and medium voltage power distribution, electrical protection and control systems, UPS and battery systems, electrical testing, applicable electrical codes and standards, and a working understanding of mechanical systems.

Serve as an onsite technical resource of electrical infrastructure systems and equipment, with an emphasis on practical field operationEnsure appropriate cross‑functional collaboration between local electrical team and applicable local and global teamsContribute to electrical safety program for sitePlan resource, author or approve work procedures to cover electrical troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance activities, with an emphasis on assessing & mitigating personnel and critical systems and operational riskConduct or oversee hands‑on troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and maintenance of electrical equipmentOversee electrical system configurations and component upgrades to ensure system integrity is maintained and that all modifications to existing systems are in compliance with best practices, including change control processesProvide QA/QC oversight of construction projects & maintenance activityLead and/or participate in root‑cause analysis activities in area of expertiseProvide training to Critical Facility Engineers and other cross‑functional teams on electrical equipment, systems, procedures, and changesManage vendor relationships for electrical maintenance and retrofit workProvide feedback on global electrical maintenance strategies and global electrical system design improvementsTravel expectations can be significant during the first 3 months for initial training and onboarding. After initial onboarding, travel expectations are 10‑15% and then ongoing occasional travel for factory witness tests, collaboration, training, etc.Minimum Qualifications
6+ years relevant electrical industry experience or electrical trade level experienceBachelor’s degree or trade certification in related field plus 2+ years relevant electrical industry experience will be considered in lieu of 6+ years relevant electrical industry experienceExperience in critical environmentsTheoretical and practical understanding of power equipment & systems, with expertise in electrical equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and/or constructionWorking knowledge of critical facility operations with experience or understanding of procedure‑based workWorking knowledge of mechanical, controls, and fire and life safety systemsExperience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawingsExperience in comprehending electrical plans, specifications, and equipment shop drawingsExperience working in a highly collaborative, cross‑functional environmentPreferred Qualifications
Experience in high voltage (up to 345kV) equipment construction, operation, and maintenanceInstrumentation & control, power system protection, power automation, etc. experienceNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA) or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) electrical testing experience/certificationsExperience in a data center industryTrade Certification or state license as an electricianEquipment field service engineering or representative experiencePublic Compensation
$90,000/year to $134,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
