A growing global manufacturing organization is seeking a Parts & Supplier Development Engineer to support supplier performance, part development, and quality improvement initiatives across the supply base. This role is responsible for working directly with suppliers to ensure components meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have experience in supplier development, manufacturing processes, and cross‑functional collaboration with engineering, purchasing, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead supplier development activities to improve manufacturing capability, quality performance, and delivery reliability.
- Support new part launches by working with suppliers during design, validation, and production readiness phases.
- Review and approve PPAP documentation
, control plans, PFMEAs, and process flow diagrams. - Conduct supplier audits, process assessments, and capability reviews to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives for quality or process issues.
- Partner with internal teams including engineering, purchasing, quality, and operations to resolve supplier‑related concerns.
- Analyze supplier performance metrics and develop improvement plans where necessary.
- Support cost reduction initiatives through process optimization, value engineering, and supplier collaboration
. - Assist in supplier selection and qualification for new components or programs.
- Provide technical guidance to suppliers regarding manufacturing processes, materials, and product specifications.
- Travel to supplier facilities as needed to support development and problem resolution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).
- 3–7 years of experience in supplier quality, supplier development, manufacturing engineering, or product development within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, and root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5 Why, etc.).
- Experience working directly with suppliers and manufacturing processes such as machining, stamping, casting, plastics, or assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
. - Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across internal teams and external suppliers.
