PORTFOLIO SPECIALIST (Financial Institution)
MONTGOMERY, AL

This financial institution is headquartered in Montgomery needs a Portfolio Specialist to manage and evaluate the institution's existing loan portfolios focusing on commercial, real estate, or consumer loans, assess credit risk, monitor borrower financial health, and support the loan officers.

Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration or a related field, OR equivalent experience and four (4) or more years of progressively responsible banking or related commercial credit experience.
  • Provide support through underwriting, negotiating, structuring, and monitoring of portfolios.
  • Cover middle to upper level market companies in a wide range of industry.
  • Must have extensive experience in the analysis of complex credits.
Essential Functions
  • Assesses the credit and financial strength of the Association’s Capital Markets portfolio by performing fundamental credit analysis on individual portfolio companies.
  • Maintains and builds financial models to incorporate the forward-looking risk assessment on key value drivers.
  • Recommends loan investment opportunities, extensions, and amendments for approval.
  • Analyzes financial information in ascertain credit worthiness.
  • Determines internal Probability of Default (PD) and Loss Given Default (LGD) ratings as appropriate.
  • Monitors and ensures loans are properly risk rated and performance status assignments are proper.
  • Performs loan servicing tasks to include partial releases, subordinations, re-amortizations, assumptions, severance agreements, and amendments.
  • Works directly with lending staff in the development of appropriate credit decisions and prepares other reports as requested by management.
  • Interprets, communicates, and provides guidance to loan officers regarding association lending policies and procedures.
  • Complies with proper credit administration practices as outlined in the association’s policies and procedures.
  • Travel 25-50% of the time is required in this position.
