Job Title
NATURE OF WORK
The fundamental reason this classification exists is to provide support to the Planning Commission and the Board of Adjustment through zoning and development plan application review. Work responsibilities include: processing applications for the Planning Commission and the Board of Adjustment review; performing technical zoning duties; and communicating with the developers and citizens and performing other duties as needed. Employees report directly to the Building Plans Coordinator or the Land Use Coordinator.
WORK RESPONSIBILITIES
Processes applications for Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment review in order to ensure the accuracy of applications and ensure that the Commission and the Board have all of the materials needed to review requests. Performs technical zoning duties in order to ensure that City zoning and land use ordinances are appropriately applied. Communicates with the developers and citizens to answer questions and resolve problems in order to ensure that the public is informed of relevant information and to ensure that public policy regarding proper notification is followed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in planning, geography, public administration, business administration or a closely related field, and two (2) years of experience working with city zoning and/or city-wide property development. NOTE :
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Certification from the International Code Council (ICC) in Code Enforcement or Permit Technician within the first two (2) years of employment into the classification.
