Job DescriptionThe fundamental reason that this classification exists is to strengthen the social, physical, and economic infrastructure of neighborhoods and commercial corridors through the development and facilitation of partnerships between the City of Montgomery and public, nonprofit, philanthropic, and corporate organizations. Development will be focused at the community or neighborhood level in designated areas of the city which includes building assets both individually and collectively for the community or neighborhood.
In order to assist the city in the achievement of its development goals, the major responsibilities for this classification include developing opportunities for cooperation and collaboration between the city and various stakeholders; studying economic and community issues, concerns, and best practices; and developing and facilitating the implementation of community economic development strategies in the areas of community building, place orientation, business orientation, and workforce development.
Bachelor's degree in community planning, urban/city/regional planning, or a related degree and four years of community economic development/project management experience. A master's degree in a related field can be substituted for two years of experience. Qualifying education, training, and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Kind Of ExaminationApplications are being accepted to fill a vacancy and any other vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.
