Medical Records Technician; Coder-Outpatient and Inpatient

Position: Medical Records Technician (Coder-Outpatient and Inpatient)

Apply knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, diseases, and official coding guidelines to assign outpatient and inpatient codes.;
Select codes from ICD, CPT, and HCPCS for documented encounters.;
Adhere to coding guidelines and guidelines for accuracy and ethical coding.;
Monitor regulatory and policy changes affecting coded information for the Veterans Health Administration.;
Establish primary and secondary diagnosis and procedure codes for outpatient encounters and ensure proper linkage to procedures for reimbursement.
