Role Overview

Remote. Our client seeks a Workday Compensation Business Systems Analyst / Product Manager to own, configure, and improve Workday Core and Advanced Compensation. The role operates at the intersection of HR, Finance, and People Technology as a functional subject matter expert and product owner, supporting annual cycles, ongoing pay programs, and long-term roadmap evolution.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as BSA/Product Manager for Workday Core Compensation and Advanced Compensation across merit, bonus, stock, and one-time payment programs.
  • Own configuration for compensation plans and packages, grades and grade profiles, ranges, eligibility rules, proration logic, and compensation review processes.
  • Partner with HR and Total Rewards to translate compensation strategy into scalable Workday solutions.
  • Lead requirements gathering with HR, Finance, Payroll, and Legal stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into configuration-ready functional designs.
  • Analyze downstream impacts to Payroll, Time and Absence, Reporting, and integrations.
  • Drive end-to-end testing including unit, integration, and UAT for compensation events and annual cycles.
  • Act as Product Owner for Workday Compensation within the People Technology portfolio.
  • Maintain and prioritize a product backlog of enhancements, defects, and optimization items.
  • Partner with engineering, HRIS, and vendors to deliver roadmap initiatives using Agile practices.
  • Evaluate new Workday releases and features and recommend adoption based on business value.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for compensation system decisions and communicate tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Support executive-level reporting, pay equity analysis, and audit readiness.
Experience Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in Workday HCM with deep specialization in Compensation.
  • Hands-on configuration experience with Core Compensation, Advanced Compensation, and compensation review cycles.
  • Background as a Business Systems Analyst, Product Manager, or HRIS Lead.
  • Proven experience leading annual merit and bonus cycles in Workday.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Experience supporting global compensation programs (preferred).
  • Exposure to Time Tracking, Absence, Payroll, or Reporting dependencies (preferred).
  • Agile and product management experience including backlog ownership and sprint planning (preferred).
  • Workday certification in Compensation or HCM (preferred).
