Data Analyst - Financial Aid

Alabama State University, Office of Financial Aid, invites applications to fill the vacant position of Data Analyst. The selected applicant, under general supervision of the Associate Director, will provide compliance and system support for the Office of Financial Aid. The Data Analyst will perform complex tasks involving strategic systems planning, management, and support in relation to programming requirements for Student ERP to follow current Title IV Regulations and Best Practices, and will focus on a variety of technical work and analysis as required for the development of specific regulatory requirements in the dissemination of Title IV funding, and state funding.

• Serve as the Financial Aid liaison for relationships with Information Technology team and functional owner for the purpose of requirements validations, issue resolution and coordination of project activities.
• Provide solutions to issues, and take responsibility for performing system configuration updates or working with Information Technology via Change Management tools to update system code.
• Gather and elicit system configuration requirements for Student ERP projects including but not limited to Title IV Compliance Enhancements, Production Support, and Delivered Title IV Compliance Upgrades.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert with regard to Financial Aid and all related modules of the Student ERP.
• Participate in People Soft assigned functional training in order to assist in the integration and implementation processes.
• Design, build, modify equations, complex Budget Formula and Financial Aid Packaging Plans to reflect the packaging policies of the institution, and in compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.
• Develop appropriate test cases necessary to perform validation testing on all required system modifications, customization, fixes, interfaces, and patches, and participate in testing People Soft dates/bundles/fixes/patches.
• Create, export, and filer information to make it user friendly using the People Soft Query tool.
• Analyze and evaluate assigned functions processes and new requirements to develop and integrate new solutions within People Soft.
• Document requirements for internal and external interfaces, reports, workflow, and security access that support financial aid business processes and staff.
• Identify, document, and elevate system or business process risks and issues.
• Manage expectation, timeline and deliverables.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university supplemented by 3 years of related experience working with People Soft applications, extensive knowledge of Student ERP Functional Processes, the ability to identify areas of impact between system and functional business processes, and have demonstrated ability to research, trouble‑shoot, and provide technical analysis for issues encountered with the Student ERP.
