Data Center Technician 2 – Oracle – Montgomery, AL.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) has an excellent opportunity to help us build and operate the suite at significant scale, where coordinated cloud services are broadly distributed in a multi‑tenant cloud environment. Shift ScheduleNight shift schedule to cover 24/7 data center operations. Shift schedule: 4 days a week, 10‑hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities- Hardware installation and configuration of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure.
- Hardware break/fix replacement of FRUs.
- Rack installation, including rack placement, cabling, power up and handoff of servers to internal provisioning teams.
- Troubleshooting and resolving Telco connectivity issues.
- Troubleshoot and replace network switch equipment.
- Communicate within a ticketing environment supervised by multiple internal Oracle Cloud service owners and teams.
- Documentation of activities and building/modifying SOPs.
- Structured cabling, labeling, and troubleshooting of fiber, copper, and telecom cables.
- System power supplies and cabling installation, repair, and maintenance.
- Execute small projects independently and collaborate with manager on larger local projects.
- Install, remove, and address technical issues in data center racks without disturbing other hardware and critical infrastructure on site.
- Maintain asset inventory and update internal applications as needed.
- Be accessible via cell phone and willing to work on onsite emergencies as needed.
- Participate in and complete training that aligns with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new relevant technologies.
- Act within SLAs on tickets assigned to you in your space.
- Knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware.
- Strong interest in learning new DC concepts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- 3+ years working in an IT environment.
- Experience solving problems on servers, networking devices, and IT equipment.
- Inventory management experience: ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts.
- Experience taking on‑call shifts and responding to critical events as needed.
- Experience raising issues to senior onsite staff and management as needed.
- Knowledge of IT hardware concepts (RAID, SAN, SCIS, Linux/Unix, GRUB).
- Knowledge of trunk infrastructure is a plus.
- 2‑year or 4‑year degree or 3+ years of experience.
- 1+ year experience in structured cabling (copper/fiber), cable testing, cooling, and electrical systems concepts inside the data center.
US:
Hiring range in USD from $27.07 to $54.13 per hour; from $56,300 to $112,600 per annum. May be eligible for equity.
