Overview
TECHNICAL WRITER (EAISP).
Bowhead seeks a Technical Writer for its Gunter Annex Air Force base location at Maxwell/Gunter Annex, AL. The writer will draft, edit, and publish Enterprise Architecture (EA) documents, user guides, and technical standards for Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). Primary responsibilities include publishing the EA views created by the architecture team and translating complex system architecture into clear, actionable documentation between systems engineers and end‑users.
The position is part of a team consisting of Enterprise Architects and System Administrators.
- Collaborate directly with the Enterprise Architect to format, edit, and publish comprehensive EA documentation, ensuring strict alignment with program requirements and IT standards.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously update user guides, SOPs, and technical standards governing system configurations and deployments.
- Review and interpret complex system architectures, server configurations, network diagrams, and IT infrastructure designs to produce accurate, system‑administrator‑level documentation.
- Coordinate with Enterprise Architects and system administrators to translate technical processes into clear, accessible documentation for diverse stakeholders.
- Execute version control and manage technical documentation repositories (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence) to support the engineering team.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, English, or related discipline. Equivalent experience may substitute for degree.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in Systems Administration, IT Operations, or a highly technical writing role supporting complex systems engineering projects.
- Expert proficiency in technical writing, editing, and formatting using Microsoft Word, Visio, Adobe, and preferably Enterprise Architecture modeling tools.
- Proficiency in receiving, formatting, and publishing complex EA views and system diagrams developed by the EA team, ensuring seamless integration into baseline documentation.
- Ability to read and contextualize basic system scripts (Power Shell, Bash) and configuration files to assist in publishing accurate SOPs and guides.
- Experience with MS Office, Markdown, and document repository structures (SharePoint, Confluence) for IT infrastructure configuration control.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (INCOSE, DoD Architectural Framework).
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
Must be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. US Citizenship is required for Secret clearance at this location.
