Salary Information
Compensation plans are based on a multi‑step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations.
Nature of WorkThe fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform manual work that does not require a high degree of manipulative skill or an acquired skill or previous experience. Work is generally performed under the immediate direction of a supervisor, but many types of work assigned may be very routine and repetitive in nature, and after being learned can be carried out with some independence.
Employees in this classification may work in support of temporary, casual, or seasonal needs of no more than six consecutive months in any 12‑month period.
Requires basic skills in reading and writing and ability to use simple tools and equipment where proficiency is gained in hours or days. Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special RequirementsSome positions require the use of departmental vehicles on departmental business. Individuals must be capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
Kind of ExaminationTo apply for this position, you must visit the City Lot Guard Shack located at 934 N. Ripley Street. Applications are distributed and received only on Wednesday mornings between 7 AM and 11 AM.
