Oversees and managestheday-to-day activities ofthebusiness unit(s),including but not limited to operations, maintenance, safety/compliance, equipment,and personnel.
Overalloperational administration and management ofthebusiness unit(s),ensuring smooth operations and efficient use of resources.
- Manage budget, including expenses for staffing, maintenance, equipment, and supplies. Monitor financial performance andidentifyopportunities for cost savings.
- Monitor operations,ensuring workload is completedbycustomer expectations efficiently, safely,and compliant with all applicable regulations
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to terminal operations, such as on-time performance, customer satisfaction, and revenue generation. Implement strategies to improve performance and achieve operational goals.
- Coordinate withthemaintenancedepartmentto keep owned/leased trucks and trailersmaintained, safe, andoperatingper federal, state,and local law while managing associated costs
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to ensure that the terminal facilities and equipment arewell-maintained and operational. Schedule routine maintenance tasks and respond promptly to maintenance issues.
- Ensure high levelsof customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional service to all internal and external customers. Address concerns, complaints, and inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Planning, organizing, and managingdirect reportsto ensure work iscompleteand consistent with the company's standards.
- Promoting safe work activities by conducting safety audits and attending company safety meetings
- Lead and manage direct reports, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Ensure thatemployeesadhere to company policies and procedures.
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. This may include implementing safety procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing insurance policies.
- Foster open communication channels within the organization. Coordinate with different departments to ensure smooth workflow and resolve any issues.
- Leveraging technology software and systems to streamline operations,recruiting, and improve overall efficiency.
- Managing relationships withstaff, customers, and internal teamsto ensure smooth operations and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field,plusfive years of prior management experience in operational roles or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Thorough understanding of transportation operations, including logistics, scheduling, safety regulations, and customer service principles.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Knowledge of tractor trucks and trailers
- Familiarity with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards
- Budgeting and financial management skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability toidentifyissues, analyze data, and implement effective solutions.
- Working knowledge of DOT information, programs, policies,and procedures preferred
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suiteor similar software
- Work is performed while sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision,and hearing
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Must be able tolift upto
40pounds at a time - Normal office environment and maintenance shop environment
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering shop floor equipment to access, inspect, or oversee shop work
- Occasionally, it requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (safety glasses, hard hat,appropriate footwear, ear plugs, gloves, etc.).
- May berequiredto work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials,and chemicals
- Requires regular travel within and beyond typical service areas.
