American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with strong trauma, neuro, and ortho skills for 12-hour day shifts.
Responsibilities- Hospital-based Operating Room in a Level II Trauma Center
- Handles a variety of cases including general, trauma, ortho, neuro, ENT, vascular, GYN, urology, robotics, plastics, breasts, and eyes
- Minimal pediatric cases, typically orthopedic
- 1:1 patient assignment in the OR
- 12-hour day shifts (6:30am-7:00pm) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- No regular call, but on-call required for one weekday and one weekend per month with a 30-minute response time
- No floating required
- Uses Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Spacelabs monitors
- Two-week orientation on day shift including buddy call
- Green scrubs provided
- Main responsibilities involve circulating in diverse surgical specialties
- Support provided by OR assistants, desk assistants, charge nurse, and service line team leaders
- Orientation includes buddy call requirements
- Expected to work assigned holidays
- Parking available in a parking deck
- First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of relevant OR experience
- Active AL or compact RN license
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Minimum of 2 years Operating Room RN experience; not accepting candidates with only 1 year of experience
- Strong experience in trauma (excluding burns), neuro, general, vascular, ENT, ortho (including total joints and spine), GYN, urology, robotics (both general and neuro), plastics, breasts, and eyes
- Experience circulating in the above specialties required
- Robotics experience (Robotic Mazor/DaVinci XI) preferred
- Perm staff must have a 6-month break before being considered as a traveler
- Must live outside a 60-mile radius from the facility
