Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a 176-bed acute care hospital in Montgomery, AL, requiring strong robotic surgery experience and an AL or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in the OR of a 176-bed acute care hospital with 6 ORs and 1 Cystoscopy Room, running a maximum of 6 rooms simultaneously
- Patient population includes General, GYN, Urology, Vascular, Ortho, Podiatry, ENT, Robotics (General, GYN, and Uro), and Pediatric Dental cases
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Primary shift is 10-hour days with a 6:30 AM start; scheduling also includes 5x8 (6:30 AM–3:00 PM), 4x10 (11:00 AM–9:30 PM), and 3x12 weekend shifts (Friday–Sunday, 6:30 AM–7:00 PM)
- All regularly scheduled shifts fall Monday through Friday, exclusive of call hours
- Floating is limited to within the department (Holding Room only)
- Call schedule includes one weeknight per week (3:00 PM–6:30 AM) and one weekend day (24 hours) per month
- EMR:
Cerner (experience required) - Equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
- Perform circulator duties across a variety of surgical specialties including robotic-assisted procedures
- Unit support includes 4 Team Leaders, 3 Materials staff, and OR Assistants
- Orientation typically consists of 2–3 shifts, with individual assessment to ensure readiness for call shifts
- Holiday call may be required if a holiday falls during the contract, not to exceed once every 26 weeks
- Block scheduling requests (e.g., consecutive days off during the week) generally cannot be accommodated, though some longer weekends may be scheduled to allow travel home
- Scrubs are provided by the facility; free parking is available at the rear of the hospital
- First-time travelers are considered with at least 2 years of relevant OR experience
- RTO requests must be approved by the manager
- An interview is required prior to any offer being extended
- Active AL RN license or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience required, with preference for 2 years in a non-travel position
- Strong robotic surgery experience required
- Core specialty experience in General, GYN, Urology, and Vascular surgery required
- Pediatric Dental experience preferred but not required
- Proficiency in standard circulator skills required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Previous permanent staff at this facility must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
- DOB (day and month), one reference from a charge nurse or above from within the past 12 months, and copies of certifications required for consideration
