ERP International is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a full‑time position in support of the 42nd Aerospace Medical Squadron at the 42nd Medical Group, Maxwell AFB, AL.

Responsibilities

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 9 hours between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, with a one hour lunch.

NO Weekends, NO Call, NO Holidays

Job Specific Position Duties:

  • Provides trainee health support. Develops policies and procedures and prepares directives governing communicable disease, illness and injuries, preventive medicine, and occupational medicine.
  • Provides occupational medicine support. Determines frequency and scope of occupational medicine exams required by federal regulations and workplace exposures. Conducts and supervises placement and periodic health exams for employees.
  • Perform deployment related health assessment and annual mental health assessment services that comply with applicable Department of Defense and Air Force policy and guidance, to include required standards of care and clinical practice guidelines. A
  • Provides aerospace medical care to flyers, missile crews, and others with special standards of medical qualifications. Implements policies and procedures and prepares directives governing flight medicine, preventive medicine, and occupational medicine.
  • Manage disorders and injuries unique to flying or special programs. Provides complex aeromedical decision making to include aeromedical dispositions for flying/special operational duty (includes drafting and reviewing aeromedical waivers, signing initial, periodic, Duty Not Involving Flying, Condition Reports. Notification of Air Force Member’s Qualification Status (AF 422).
  • Treat patients with common acute conditions, illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in collaboration with a physician. Collaborate with the physician in the health care of patients with chronic illnesses
  • Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physical, positive health behaviors, and self‑care skills through education and counseling. Order diagnostic tests as applicable
  • Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness
  • Ensures compliance with standards of care and practice IAW all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Serve and participate in committees, functions and other meetings as directed. Provide relevant and timely information to these groups and assist with decision‑making and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required.
  • Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient’s condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care. Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react quickly in emergency situations.
  • Skill in setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers, and other unit specific equipment.
