Position: Home Infusion Nurse

Schedule &

Location:

Montgomery, AL area. The role is part‑time per diem and may require travel to patient homes or other health care facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Insert, monitor, and remove IVs used to administer medications, blood products, and nutrition.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions, keep tubing, bandages, and needles secure, and perform venous phlebotomy when needed.
  • Obtain vital signs, conduct physical assessments and review of systems, and document all patient‑related activities and medication administrations.
  • Coordinate staffing and scheduling, communicating with patients, internal staff, and third‑party providers.
  • Plan, organize, and schedule patient care, ensuring completeness of nursing notes and timely submission to required parties.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, federal and state laws, and ethical standards.
  • Teach patients and caregivers to manage home infusion therapy and monitor IV or PICC line care.
  • Prepare clinical records, care plans, progress notes, and coordinate study or treatment schedules.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities (Expanded)
  • Utilize the nursing process to schedule visits per prescriptions and protocols.
  • Coordinate SOC and ongoing nursing visits, confirming schedules with patients and nursing agency staff.
  • Send schedules via email and follow up on therapy admin reports.
  • Review nurse notes for accuracy and completeness, ensuring documentation of drug dosing and administration times.
  • Communicate with families, supervisors, and field personnel regarding patient needs.
  • Report problems to the referring MD and nursing administration.
  • Operate computer systems for data entry, reports, searches, and scheduling.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with the compliance program.
  • Insert cannulas, administer solutions, monitor infusion sites, and evaluate patient responses.
  • Prepare educational instructions for patients and caregivers.
  • Operate within patients’ residences and drive as required.
  • Prior experience and certification in Home Infusion Therapy, PICC/Port/Midline are preferred.
Qualifications
  • Nursing degree from an accredited institution.
  • IV certification and experience in central line care.
  • Current state RN license in the applicable state.
  • Minimum two (2) years of RN experience.
  • CPR certification.
  • Experience in home care, critical care, emergency nursing, AIC, or hospital discharge planning.
  • Staffing experience and demonstrated ability to multi‑task with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic competence with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel to patients’ homes and other facilities.
  • Customer service experience and adherence to quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • RN license in additional states.
Pay Range

$45 – $60 USD per hour.

Physical Demands

The position may require standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
