Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.
• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program:

Special Requests:
- You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). You may apply to both day shift and night shift on the same unit and facility, but not to more than one position for the same shift on the same unit and facility.
- Staff must be gone from the facility for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from last shift worked to start date.
- Up to 7 days off may be approved, excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval.
- Blackout dates needing approval during this assignment include Labor Day weekend 9/5-9/7, Halloween 10/30-11/1, and Thanksgiving 11/25-11/29.
- Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival.
Required Skills/
Experience:
- First-time travelers accepted. Minimum of 18 months experience in Med Surg and/or ICU with Epic or Cerner experience. If strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required.
- At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.
Preferred Skills/
Experience:
- Chemo experience highly preferred.
Unit Details:
- Float pool assignments may include 6 North Trauma Surgical (general surgery and vascular surgery; patient ratio 1:5-6; wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills), 5 South Neuroscience (CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, angiogram; patient ratio 1:5-6; IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tube, surgical site care, C-collar, abdominal binders, restraints), 5 North Med Surg/Oncology (MS/oncology, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal;
patient ratio 1:6; trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts; chemo administration if certified; telemetry monitored on hallway monitors and by tele techs), 4 South Clinical Decision Unit (general Med Surg including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, end-of-life comfort; patient ratio 1:5-6; tracheotomy care, suctioning, O2 therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, external catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tube, central line care, pressure ulcer management, restraints), 3 South Orthopedics (orthopedic and spine cases including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies;
patient ratio 1:5 or 1:6 if Med Surg; PCA pumps, negative-pressure dressings, foleys, hemovac/JP drains), and 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology (urology, ENT, ortho, Med Surg; patient ratio 1-5:6; trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes).
- Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.
- Telemetry is monitored by telemetry techs; RNs are required to interpret and confirm strip readings q4 hours.
Shift & Scheduling:
- Every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month.
- No call.
- One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy.
