Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.
• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program:

Required Skills/
Experience:
- First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 18 months of Med Surg and/or ICU experience plus Epic or Cerner experience; if experience is strictly ICU, Cerner is required.
Preferred Skills/
Experience:
- Chemo experience highly preferred.
Special Requests:
- Only 1 active application is allowed for the same position at the same facility on the same unit and shift. You may apply to both day and night shift on the same unit/facility, but not to more than one opening on the same shift/unit/facility.
- Must be away from Baptist for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from last shift worked to start date.
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved, excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval. 2026 blackout dates during assignment include Halloween 10/30-11/1 and Thanksgiving 11/25-11/29.
- Holiday dates off are not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival.
Unit Details:
- Float pool assignments may include 6 North Trauma Surgical, 5 South Neuroscience, 5 North Med Surg/Oncology, 4 South Clinical Decision Unit, 3 South Orthopedics, and 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology.
- 6 North Trauma Surgical: general surgery and vascular surgeries; patient ratio 1:5-6; trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations.
- 5 South Neuroscience: CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, and angiogram patients; patient ratio 1:5-6; IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tubes, surgical site care, C-collar, abdominal binders, and restraints.
- 5 North Med Surg/Oncology: MS/oncology patients, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, and all patient types except stroke and MI; patient ratio 1:6; trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts, and chemo administration if certified. Telemetry monitoring is on hallway monitors and by tele techs.
- 4 South Clinical Decision Unit: general Med Surg including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, and end-of-life comfort; patient ratio 1:5-6; tracheotomy care, suctioning, O2 therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, external catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tubes, central line care, pressure ulcer management/preventive measures, falls prevention management, and restraints.
- 3 South Orthopedics: orthopedic and spine patients including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies; patient ratio 1:5, or 1:6 if Med Surg; PCA pumps, wound care with negative pressure dressings, dressing changes, Foley care, and hemovac/JP drains.
