Gentiva is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Hospice for a nursing job in Montgomery, Alabama.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care for hospice patients
  • Manage and implement individualized plans of care
  • Support and lead interdisciplinary team members (LPNs, CNAs, HHAs, etc.)
  • Assess and address patients’ physical, emotional, spiritual, and environmental needs
  • Accurately document all care provided and ensure compliance with hospice protocols
  • Educate families and caregivers on care instructions, medications, and safety
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and provide after‑hours care as needed
  • Collaborate with physicians, referral sources, and the care team
  • Assist with referrals, regulatory documentation, and payer compliance
  • Travel to various Gentiva hospice locations as assigned to fill urgent needs
Schedule & Travel

This role typically follows a Monday–Friday schedule, with occasional on‑call responsibilities.

  • Regional travel required, including overnight stays within a multi‑state area or up to a 100‑mile radius, based on assignment needs.
  • A company fleet car is provided for eligible employees.
Requirements
  • Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of employment
  • Minimum of 1 year of RN experience (hospice, home health, acute care, long‑term care, or oncology preferred)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
Preferred Experience (not required)
  • Hospice and end‑of‑life nursing experience
  • Skilled in clinical assessments and compassionate communication
  • Strong critical thinking, flexibility, and problem‑solving skills
  • Comfortable working in varied environments with shifting needs
  • Proficient in documentation and electronic health records
  • Calm and supportive in crisis situations; skilled at family engagement
