American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a float pool position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring at least 18 months of Med Surg and/or ICU experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

• Float pool position covering multiple units including Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, Med Surg/Oncology, Orthopedics, and MS/Ortho/Urology
• 492-bed facility with Level I Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center designation
• 12-hour day and night shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) on a 36-48 hour weekly schedule
• Weekend rotation required, either every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to like units (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task, ICU-ER/ICU holds)
• Patient ratios range from 1:4-6 depending on assigned unit
• RNs required to interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings every 4 hours
• Cerner EMR used, with Epic experience also considered
• Support staff available including CNAs, HUC, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, hospitalist, and telemetry techs

• Active RN license (AL or compact) required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum of 18 months of Med Surg and/or ICU experience required
• Cerner or Epic EMR experience required;
  Cerner specifically required if experience is strictly ICU-based
• Skills may include wound care, chest tubes, NGT, PEG tubes, trach care, IV starts, central line blood draws, ostomy/colostomy care, and medication administration depending on unit assignment
• Chemotherapy certification preferred for Med Surg/Oncology assignments

• Assist with patient turning, bathing, and ADLs, particularly in lower-ratio assignments where quality of care expectations are high
• Will be assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation
• New-to-facility travelers or return travelers gone 1+ years receive 24 hours of classroom orientation and 24 hours of unit orientation
• Holiday coverage expected for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy, though specific dates off are not guaranteed prior to arrival
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved in advance, excluding facility blackout dates throughout 2026
• Scrubs of any color are permitted
• Free parking available in designated parking deck levels
• Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility
• Previous staff members must wait 6 months from their last shift before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role
