Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring Level I or II Trauma experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Details
  • 71-bed Emergency Department setting
  • Treats multi-system trauma (Level I), STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatric, and psychiatric patients
  • Receives transfer patients from other facilities
  • Patient ratios: 1:4 ER, 1:5 MS Holds, 1:3 ICU Holds
  • 12-hour night shifts, 48 hours per week on a 4-week schedule cycle
  • Shift options include 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 11a-11p, and 3p-3a
  • Weekend rotation of every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month if on a block schedule
  • No floating required
  • No on-call requirements
  • EMR:
    Cerner
  • Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
  • Unit support includes CNA (1:12 ratio), receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy (until 0300), IV/VAT team, and hospitalist coverage
Requirements
  • Active RN license (AL or Compact) required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Secure/CPI, NIHSS, and TNCC
  • First-time travelers considered with at least 2 years of Cerner or Epic experience and Level I or II Trauma experience, or 3+ years of Level III Trauma experience at a 300+ bed facility
  • Experienced travelers need at least 2 years of critical care experience (ICU or ER) with the most recent year in a Level I or II ER
  • Cerner or Epic experience preferred
  • Skills required:

    trach care, vent care, ICU drip care and maintenance, chest tube, art line, CVL, PICC, midline, port, foley, splint/ortho device application and care, BiPAP/HiFlow, and continuous bladder irrigation
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency care across a wide range of trauma and acute patient conditions
  • Travelers new to the facility or returning after 1+ years receive 24 hours of classroom orientation and 24 hours on the unit
  • Rehire orientation is based on last date worked at the facility
  • Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy
  • Up to 7 days of time off can be pre-approved, excluding facility blackout dates
  • Scrubs must be any solid color
  • Parking available in a parking garage
  • Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
  • Former staff must wait 6 months after separation before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers will be considered if they meet the required experience criteria
