JOB DESCRIPTION:
SECURITY TECHNICIAN III Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma/GED (some college preferred).
- Verified proof of 2 successful years of experience working with fire, intercom, locks, and security systems.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Background clearance through FBI and ABI processes.
- Valid Alabama driver’s license and MPS insurable driving history.
- The person selected for this position must agree to a background check, be fingerprinted, and pay a $46.20 fee.
- Assist in servicing and inspecting conventional fire alarm and security systems.
- Assist in installing low-voltage systems.
- Assist in testing and troubleshooting security systems with the ability to analyze data to come to effective conclusions.
- Document work orders thoroughly and communicate findings verbally and in writing.
- Provide verbal tutorial on how to use metal detectors, fire, intercom, and security systems.
- Basic knowledge of access control systems.
- Basic knowledge of door entry systems including magnetic holders and door releases, motion detectors, sirens, cabling, and connections to central stations.
- Any electronic related certification or other related certification is an asset.
- Perform all duties in a safe, professional, and courteous manner.
- Work with local fire officials to ensure that all Montgomery Public Schools are inspected annually.
- Work with school administrators to implement fire prevention plans.
- For employees starting work after the beginning date of the work term, the salary will be pro-rated and based on the number of contract days left in the school year, divided by the remaining months in the contract year.
