Position Overview

The Fiber Technician Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering training programs for new and existing FTTH Technicians through high-quality, hands‑on instruction. This role ensures technicians gain the knowledge and skills needed to install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic systems and equipment. Key responsibilities include creating training materials, conducting classes, and assessing trainee performance. This position plays a vital role in equipping industry professionals to work safely, efficiently, and effectively while promoting customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate in-person training sessions, workshops, and hands‑on exercises at client sites and training centers, covering FTTH installation principles, troubleshooting, and safety protocols.
  • Develop accurate instructional materials, guides, and occasionally video content.
  • Oversee the implementation of training policies and procedures in line with company standards.
  • Deliver product‑specific training to technicians on fiber optic installation and use.
  • Instruct on fiber optic fundamentals, including installation, termination, splicing/fusing, and troubleshooting with testing equipment.
  • Conduct hands‑on training with industry‑recognized equipment (e.g., mini excavator, bucket truck).
  • Maintain and set up training equipment and materials to support successful training outcomes.
  • Enforce OSHA safety protocols and promote compliance throughout training.
  • Assist new technicians in developing skills to serve as entry‑level fiber optic installers.
  • Provide demonstrations on tools, equipment, and machinery; design assignments to reinforce hands‑on learning.
  • Oversee and participate in field studies; travel with technicians to provide onsite instruction.
  • Provide post‑training guidance and technical assistance to installer teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and performance.
  • Build strong relationships with partners, installer networks, and stakeholders to enhance program adoption.
  • Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and training methods.
  • Travel up to 75% of the time, including overnight, to deliver training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

All positions require participation in the federally compliant FMCSA drug and alcohol testing program (pre‑employment and random).

  • Fiber optic experience preferred.
  • Experience developing and delivering technical training programs, ideally in a related industry.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple training events and schedules.
  • Ability to work outdoors year‑round.
  • Ability to lift and operate hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work extended hours, including overtime and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Employment contingent upon successful completion of background check and drug screen.
