Job Purpose: This position operates hand‑welding and flame‑cutting equipment to weld, fabricate or join work pieces together. The role involves safe use of various hand and power tools common to the welding trade, including MIG or Stick welding, and will primarily focus on pipe welding as needed.
Responsibilities- Retrieve materials and weld into finished products.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications by cutting material with powered saws to match measurements.
- Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
- Interpret welding blueprints, assembly instructions, drawings, JSA’s, and bills of material.
- Accurately use measuring devices such as tape measures, scales, and calipers.
- Use hand tools as well as pneumatic and electric powered grinders, impact wrenches, and overhead cranes to transport components in and out of the work area.
- Master various welds such as pipe weld, GMAW, SMAW, etc. in all positions.
- Possess a recognized welding certification such as AWS D1.1.
- Perform single and multi‑pass welds in all positions.
- Perform preventative and basic maintenance of weld machines and equipment, including changing wire and gas bottles as needed.
- Weld components using manual or semi‑automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions.
- 3‑4 years of experience in welding and pipe fitting.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical School preferred.
