Job SummaryThe Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the hotel, including guestrooms, public areas, meeting spaces, restaurant outlets, and exterior areas of the property. This role supports the overall upkeep of the hotel by troubleshooting and repairing electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and general maintenance issues in a timely and professional manner.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced hospitality environment. Prior hotel maintenance experience and knowledge of building systems are preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities- Maintain and repair all hotel areas in accordance with procedures and standard guidelines.
- Report any unusual findings or safety hazards immediately to the Team Leader and Director of Support Services.
- Document all work performed on a room inspection sheet and work orders.
- Perform the shift engineer's checklist daily and report any abnormalities. Perform all safety tests as directed.
- Maintain clean and orderly shops and storage areas. Assist in the ordering and stock maintenance of all necessary tools, parts, and materials.
- Respond to guest and emergency calls within predetermined response time periods.
- Successfully complete Training Certification Process and review all departmental safety information (i.e., JHA's and MSDS's), and practice emergency procedures in compliance with hotel company standards.
- Complete work orders and shop assignments in a timely manner.
- Walk the hotels for burnt‑out light bulbs and maintenance needs.
- Participate in the maintenance of all records and log books as requested.
- Understand and practice hotel emergency fire procedures.
- Perform all other engineering‑related duties assigned by the supervisor. Offer lateral service to internal/external customers when available.
- Maintain safe conditions in the work area and other associated areas.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.) to conduct regular inspections.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clear driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Trade school or apprenticeship in general building maintenance, HVAC and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc. is required.
- 1+ years of working in a hotel engineering environment is required.
- Prolonged periods of walking, standing, and sitting.
- Must be able to lift up to 50+ pounds at times.
