Ready to move your career forward? As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and repairs of all levels on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry. You will help our customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road. As a Technician II, you are respected and trusted to work independently while doing major and minor repairs, performing road tests to diagnose problems, and completing maintenance tasks.

You set an example and informally mentor new technicians while continuing to grow your skills with experienced techs and your manager.

Tues‑Sat 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

Main Responsibilities
  • Make sure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers
  • Perform preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision and within a timely manner
  • Repair and troubleshoot components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, and fuel system components
  • Keep your work area clean and safe
  • Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
  • Learn new skills through Penske’s technician training
  • Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications
  • 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
  • Specialized training and experience in diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
  • Experience using tools of the trade (diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools)
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Willingness to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understanding and compliance with Penske management instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, and safety policies (DOT, OSHA, etc.)
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance essential
  • DOT regulation for driving Penske and customer vehicles; current driver qualification file needed (MVR check, DOT physical, safety performance history); CDL holders must pass a FMCSA drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Willingness to travel within the district, work required schedule and location, and complete Penske employment application, background screening, and drug screening
Physical Requirements
  • Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods throughout scheduled work
  • Use hands to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and operate required tools or controls on a routine basis
  • Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms
  • Work safely in all weather conditions
  • Sight and hearing required to navigate work environment safely, especially with large truck movements
  • Regularly lift or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg); push/pull truck tires >100 lbs regularly
