Entry‑Level Welding Inspector / NDT Technician — Birmingham, AL and Tuscaloosa, AL
Starting pay $18.00 - $24.00/hour depending on experience
TTL is looking for entry‑level welding inspectors and non‑destructive testing technicians in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This role supports projects throughout Alabama, performing construction inspections that include evaluating, monitoring and testing to deliver accurate data and high‑quality service to our clients. In this position, you will play a key role in nondestructive testing and special inspections, helping ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and project specifications.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Perform visual testing (VT) of structural welds to verify compliance with applicable codes, standards and project specifications.
- Conduct nondestructive testing (NDT), including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
- Perform coating inspections and testing to ensure adherence to applicable industry standards and specifications.
- Inspect structural steel and bolted connections for compliance with relevant codes and project requirements.
- Follow established procedures, perform accurate calculations and documentation, and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, clients and contractors.
- Prepare detailed daily inspection reports and client documentation; operate with moderate supervision.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree preferred with emphasis in welding, construction, physical sciences or math.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50+ lbs.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use related technology and software.
- Ability to safely operate aerial lifts and work at heights as required.
Welding experience or welding school would be a plus but not required. Even if you don’t have experience or certifications, TTL will train you and pay for your training and certification courses.
