Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
The Mechanical Specialist (I) participates in mechanical application operations and assists in maintenance and repair of equipment, meeting company and client expectations while ensuring regulatory compliance. The role supports SOLitude culture and service standards, contributing to environmental control operations across multiple locations.
Responsibilities- Learn and conduct mechanical control applications
- Observe and identify aquatic plant species
- Aid in the mobilization and demobilization of equipment
- Assist in staging environmental control measures according to project and permit requirements
- Operate SOLitude and rental machinery effectively (watercraft, aquatic weed harvester, hydro‑rake, loader, etc.)
- Log all project‑specific information in the mechanical log book (dates, management areas, material collected, number of loads, etc.)
- Provide project coordinator with timely project progression updates
- Aid in training new employees on operating and maintaining mechanical equipment in the field
- Support the mechanical division in maintaining and repairing equipment in a group setting
- Log all maintenance and repair work performed on mechanical machinery in the affiliated log book
- Submit all company‑authorized purchase receipts and work hours accurately, organized and timely
- Travel and lodge at various project locations as required
- High school diploma or GED
- 1‑2 years of experience in the mechanical application field
- Comfortable with on‑water equipment applications
- Mechanically inclined
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently or with a group
- Organized and detail‑oriented
- Positive attitude and trustworthy, reliable
- Proficient at communicating
- Open‑minded to new ideas
- Ability to travel as needed
- Completion of required licensing and certification programs (OSHA
10, hoisting, etc.) - Valid driver’s license from state of residence
The work requires strenuous physical exertion and may involve driving, standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling and crouching for extended periods. Employees must also see, talk, hear, and use hands and arms to grasp, handle, reach and feel.
