Description
JThe Communications Technician I must learn and possess the skills required to function as a contributing member of a technical team. Typically, the Technician I possess no experience to one (1) year of experience in the structured cabling industry.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Technician I will install a work area outlet for floor (i.e. monument), modular furniture (i.e. surface mount box) and wall (i.e. box eliminator). Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other method. Route cable through modular furniture. Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack and label cables. Suspend and support cable correctly:
Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze. The Communications Technician I will build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. The Communications Technician I performs fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, and pull cable through sleeves and core penetration. The Communications Technician I will terminate low-voltage devices.
The Communications Technician I will fully complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required). The Communications Technician I adheres to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations. The Communications Technician I will complete other responsibilities as assigned. Tools:
Basic Hand Tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves.

Level 2 Screening questions Level 2 Questions:
- What is your strongest area of expertise? (initial questions to understand what level of exposure they've had to the industry) - Do you know how to splice? What is splicing? What cables can you splice? (they need to be able to go into detail) - Do you know how to do ribbonized/ infused splicing? What types of cables can you do this on?
- Have you installed an IDF/MDF closet from the ground up, including pathways? (if this candidate hasn't installed pathways - supports, cable tray, fiber runner -, plus cabling at the Tech 2 level then they aren't a Tech
2) - What is a punch down? Can you go into detail? - How long does it take to punch down 24 or 48 patch panels? - Do you know your color codes? - Do you have experience with using BOTH ends of a Versiv Fluke tester for fiber and/or copper? (not a MUST, but nice to have) - If you were to do Quality Assurance, what are some things you would be looking for?

- How would you best describe a supervisor that brings the best out in you? (ideally focusing on effective communication, coaching, and creating a positive work environment/culture) - Can you provide an example of a time you had little to no direction in solving an issue; what happened/what did you do (looking for someone who will ask questions and escalate if not getting an answer) - Do you have any experience completing work in a live data center environment?

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
