Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic
Job DescriptionThe primary purpose of this position is to remove, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild integrated electronic avionics systems where the output of a number of sensor subsystems is integrated into a logic subsystem and the resultant used to modify the operation of the total system. The worker in this career field must demonstrate the ability to perform maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, environmental systems, radar, communications, and navigation systems.
Provides training to traditional reservist and other assigned personnel in the accomplishment of tasks herein.
Duties include:
- Removes, installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, aligns, calibrates, and rebuilds integrated electronic avionics systems.
- Performs pretest, operational (functional), or final testing of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies.
- Installs, inspects, modifies, repairs, services, replaces, adjusts and overhauls complex integrated electrical/environmental systems.
- Advises engineering personnel on the operation and maintenance effects of proposed Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) and/or modifications on new or existing equipment.
- Utilizes safety practices and tool control procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work area.

- Position is a testing designated position (TDP). Employee is subject to random drug testing
- Incumbent may be required to work overtime to meet workload demands. may be subject to shift work and uncommon tours of duty
- Incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty (TDY) away from the normal duty station
- Employee must maintain current certifications
- Must be a current member of the AF Reserve or willing/qualified to join
- Advance in hire may be authorized if there is demonstrable proof provided on your resume

- Maintains job proficiency by reading/reviewing new or revised technical orders or related publications and by completing applicable CDC, OJT, and FTD classes as required

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for for WG-2600 - Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
